Ouchi-juku, located in Shimosato town, Minamiaizu-gun, Fukushima Prefecture Japan, is a Shukuba(post station) located on the Aizu Nishi Kaido during the Edo period, which connected Aizu and Nikko.
This place has lost its position as a Syukuba(post station) due to the opening of the railway in the Meiji era.
But, old folk houses with thatched roofs that retain the remnants of the Edo period are lined up along the roads, and are now popular as one of the representative tourist attractions in the Tohoku region. People from all over the world, not just from Japan, are visiting here.
You can enjoy the wonderful scenery even in the season when you can see the thatched roof, but you can enjoy the scenery full of historical atmosphere while experiencing the life of the people of Okuaizu, which is a heavy snowfall area, and the harshness of winter.
At Ouchi-juku, “Negi Soba”, which can only be eaten here, is a specialty, and a unique gourmet where you can eat soba with a single green onion is also popular.
Chopsticks are included, but the bent green onions produced through repeated research in the Aizu region become sweeter in winter and can be used as a condiment that goes well with the refreshing taste of Takato Soba.
Due to the spread of coronavirus infection, some stores were closed, but three stores were open on this day as well.
