Onikobe Fresh Green Jigokudani Volcanic Nature Trail
Fukiage Jigokudani Promenade(鬼首温泉・吹上地獄谷遊歩道) in Osaki City, Miyagi Prefecture Japan, which is the unexplored region of Onikobe Onsen, where hot springs spout from more than 10 places along Fukiagezawa, where the pleasant river murmuring and fresh greenery are beautiful.
Geothermal activity is still recognized in the Onikobe Caldera, which stretches over a section of about 13km in diameter centered on Mt. Arao, which straddles the three prefectures of Miyagi, Akita, and Yamagata. A high-temperature source springs from the gaps between the rocks along Fukiagezawa, which flows through a part of it.
This area has a promenade as a tourist attraction of Osaki City, and you can experience the life of the earth that emits high temperature heat up close while looking at the beautiful scenery with abundant nature such as fresh greenery and autumn leaves.
The road was temporarily closed due to the deterioration of the promenade, but now it is fully accessible due to the construction of a new promenade in 2nd year of Reiwa. The “Murasaki-Jigoku(purple hell)” where hot water blows up to a height of about 10 meters is very powerful, so please visit it.
