Kawazu cherry blossoms are a variety of cherry blossoms that are a natural cross between Oshima Zakura(Oshima Cherry Blossoms) and Kanhi Zakura(Kanhi Cherry blossoms), and are characterized by the light red petals derived from Kanhi zakura and the large flowers derived from Oshima zakura.
Mr. Iida, who lives in the town, brought back a 1m cherry tree that grew along the Kawazu River in Kawazu Town, Kamo District, Shizuoka Prefecture, and planted it in the garden. Since 1966, it has begun to bloom.
Subsequent academic research revealed that this cherry tree was a variety that did not exist until now, and in 1974 it was named Kawazu Sakura, and the following year it was designated as a tree in Kawazu Town.
It is said that the fact that volunteers of the townspeople planted about 850 Kawazu cherry trees on the embankment of the 4km section from the mouth of the Kawazu River became popular as a famous place for early blooming cherry blossoms.
The Kawazu Cherry Blossom Festival will also be held during the period from the beginning of flowering to the beginning of scattering.
At this event, you can admire the scenery of pink flowers blooming along the Kawazu River, and at night, there will be a fantastic night cherry blossom light up in some sections.

In Minamiizu Town, Kamo District, Shizuoka Prefecture Japan, which is located on the southern tip of the Izu Peninsula, where railroads do not pass, we hold the Minami no Cherry Blossom and canola Flower Festival every year from early February to mid-March, where you can enjoy the collaboration of Kawazu cherry blossoms and canola blossoms.
At this event, you can enjoy canola blossoms blooming in fallow fields along with 800 Kawazu cherry blossoms that bloom light red flowers for about 2 km along the Aono River that meanders in the center of Minamiizu Town.
There will also be a Minami no Yozakura and Take Akari where you can enjoy the operation of the cherry blossom viewing rickshaw, which is popular with tourists, and the fantastic illumination of the night cherry blossoms.
