Hyoko lake, known for its visit of over 6,000 swans in winter, is a Ramsar Convention-registered wetland located in Agano City, Niigata Prefecture.
This area is also known as the first successful place in the country to feed wild swans in 1954, and in the same year it was designated as a national natural monument as a land for swans to visit Suibara.
The area around Hyoko is maintained as Hyokosuikin Park, and it is known that flowers such as irises and hass, which were also the flowers of the former Suibara town, bloom.
The Hyoko Ayame Festival is held every year from June to July, and you can see about 300,000 iris flowers of 170 types and the fantastic illumination by Bomboli at night.
