4K HDR Japan Great Fireworks Show 2023 | Utsunomiya Fireworks Festival
I went to see the Utsunomiya fireworks festival held in Utsunomiya City, Tochigi Prefecture on August 12, 2023.
Approximately 20,000 fireworks were displayed, including the Music Star Mine, with its beautiful gradation fireworks, and the Kotodama Fireworks, which let off fireworks with messages.
The fireworks festival originated as part of the Utsunomiya summer festival event that had been held since 1967, and although the fireworks display was held under different names due to various reasons, it was forced to be canceled due to the cooling down of the local economy.
In 2007, four years after the festival was canceled, volunteers who wanted to set off fireworks in the Utsunomiya night sky once again formed an executive committee.
In 2012, we launched the NPO Utsunomiya Hyakunen Fireworks, the first specified non-profit organization in the country to specialize in the management of fireworks displays, with the goal of making the fireworks festivals last for 100 years.
