This is the C57-180 SL Banetsu Story, a C57 Japanese steam locomotive that has revived on the Banetsu Saisen line.
The Omiya General Vehicle Center has restored C57 180 stored at Niitsu Municipal Niitsu Daiichi Elementary School in Niitsu City, Niigata Prefecture (now Akiha-ku, Niigata City).
This train runs from Niitsu Station (Niigata Prefecture) to Aizuwakamatsu Station (Fukushima Prefecture) on the Banetsu Saisen Line as a temporary Rapid train.
On the Banetsu saisen Line, which has many uphill slopes, you can enjoy the scene where a steam locomotive is running powerfully while discharging black smoke.
