4K HDR | Soma noma-oi Fire Festival Fireworks Show 2024
The Soma Nomaoi festival, in which around 400 mounted warriors clad in armor gallop through the fields with swords at their waists and flags on their backs, is held for three days from May 25th to 27th, 2024 in Minamisoma City and Futaba County, Fukushima Prefecture Japan.
On the night of the 26th, the second day of the festival, a fire festival was held around the Maekawa embankment in Odaka Ward, with approximately 4,000 fireworks such as Nishakudama and star mines being launched.
The Fire Festival originated when local residents would light lanterns and torches along the route to guide the mikoshi and horseback carriages from the Hibarigahara festival grounds and to show their appreciation for their safe return. Bonfires are lit on the rice paddy paths and on the banks of Maekawa River near the fireworks display site, after which the fireworks are launched.
