Total lunar eclipse on December 10, 2011 hidden behind clouds
On December 10, 2011, a total lunar eclipse, in which the full moon was completely covered by the Earth’s shadow, was observed late at night across Japan. A total lunar eclipse is a phenomenon in which the Sun, Earth, and Moon line up in a straight line, causing the Moon to be completely covered by the Earth’s shadow. The Moon began to wane at 9:45pm and reached totality at 11:05pm, with the copper-red Moon being a beautiful sight.
I had saved a description of the event in advance, but it disappeared into the clouds as soon as the eclipse occurred.
December 10, 2011: Start of eclipse at 19:45, total eclipse at 23:05
