In Joso City, Ibaraki Prefecture Japan, the Joso Kinugawa Fireworks Festival, which has a long history of over 50 years, is held every August.
At the Joso Kinugawa Fireworks Festival, more than 10,000 fireworks are set off, with music star mines launched by pyrotechnicians in Ibaraki Prefecture and fireworks competitions by pyrotechnicians from all over Japan.
However, from the perspective of preventing the spread of the coronavirus infection, which will continue from 2020, the city-led fireworks display has been postponed until 2022.
This year, the Joso Junior Chamber hosted the Joso New Fireworks at a location near the Kinugawa Embankment Collapse Monument.
The purpose of this event is to give hope to local residents who were affected by the Kanto and Tohoku heavy rains in September 2015, when the Kinugawa embankment burst and more than 5,000 houses were completely or partially destroyed.
At this fireworks display, 10,000 fireworks were launched, including a contest by young pyrotechnicians under the age of 40, and a wide music star mine that spreads as far as the eye can see.
