Autumn Colors in Akiu Otaki Waterfall
This is the scenery of autumn leaves seen at Akiu Otaki in Sendai City, Miyagi Prefecture, which is one of the three major waterfalls in Japan. Located upstream of the Natori River, which flows through Akiu Onsenkyo, which is one of the three famous hot springs in Oshu, Akiu Otaki is a waterfall with a height of 55m and a width of 6m, and is designated as one of the 100 best waterfalls in Japan and a national scenic spot. At the entrance of the walking path leading to Takimidai(Waterfalls Scenic Spots), which is the observation deck of Akiu Otaki, there is Akiu Otaki Fudoson.
The official name is Takimotoyama Saikoji Temple, and it is said to be the inner temple of Tateishi Temple, which is located in Yamagata City, Yamagata Prefecture and is known as the Yamadera.
If you go further down the walking path and go down the stairs, you will find Takimidai at the end. From here, you can enjoy the view of the mountains with abundant nature while looking down at the waterfall. Especially in the fresh green season and autumn when the autumn leaves are at their peak, many tourists come from inside and outside the prefecture in Japan.
If you continue on the promenade that continues from Fudo Chaya next to Takimidai, you can go down to the area around the waterfall, so if you want to experience the charm of Akiu Otaki up close, this is also recommended.
