I overclocked the clock frequency of the Intel CPU core i7 920 to 3717MHz (3.7GHz) on a home-built PC equipped with an ASUS P6T DELUXE motherboard.
Since I’m assuming regular use for video encoding, I only increased the clock frequency by a small margin.
I changed the CPU cooler to one with better cooling efficiency, so the CPU temperature didn’t rise and it seemed like there was some power to spare, but it was incompatible with the DRAM, and the computer would often freeze when the clock frequency was increased.
The maximum clock frequency that can be stably used is 3717MHZ.
The PC case used for this computer, the Antec Nine Hundred, is highly recommended as it has excellent airflow and is highly expandable.
